The Daria Kulesh Trio will work closely with acclaimed artist James Mayhew during this performance.

Daria Kulesh has been described by Mike Harding as “one of the finest voices and one of the most intriguing and interesting songwriters on the present folk scene”.

Her debut release Eternal Child was described as “phenomenal”, her second album Long Lost Home has enjoyed rave reviews and multiple awards, including LCM Album of the Year, her third offering Earthly Delights was named “one of the year’s finest albums” by Folk Radio UK.

James Mayhew is is a well-known and highly respected children’s author and illustrator. His ‘live’ paintings are executed whilst the music flows and the result is a unique fusion of cartoon, characterisation and colour. James has kindly agreed to auction off the paintings to raise money for the festival.

Sam Kelly is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winning musician, singer, songwriter, and producer from Norfolk, UK. Described by legendary folk broadcaster Mike Harding as ‘one of my favourite singers ever’ and by Cara Dillon as ‘an amazing singer with so much soul’, Sam has become one of the most accomplished and well-respected performers on the UK folk scene. But more importantly he is our patron and has been a huge supporter of this festival from its inception. We are delighted to welcome him back.

An outstanding talent in his generation, harmonica and melodeon player Will Pound has pushed the boundaries of both instruments, sharing awe inspiring performances across the world. Jenn Butterworth is one of the most notable folk guitarists in the UK, previously awarded ‘Musician of the Year’ at the Scots Trad Music Awards, and nominated for the same title at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. An excellent collaborator, she can regularly be seen performing with folk powerhouses such as Kinnaris Quintet, Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton and Treacherous Orchestra. Together, they’ll share an eclectic mix of high energy tunes and uplifting songs.

Oleg and Simone began their musical collaboration in 2008 during an international project led by Ethel String Quartet (New York), part of Festival Mundial and Podium Paradox in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Since 2010, the duo has performed their own instrumental music and songs worldwide.

Together, Oleg’s Bayan (Russian button accordion) and Simone’s Percuteria (drums & percussion) invite the listener into a poetical world of sounds, vocals and spoken word. The duo's compositions are a colorful blend of Brazilian rhythms and Eastern European melodies with a touch of Balkan rhythms, leading to a new way of making music.

Oleg and Simone will be supported by Norwich based duo The Rabbitts.

Reg’s clever and imaginative lyrics have earned him the title of  “MasterStoryteller” (PennyBlack Music) and led Mike Harding (Mike Harding Folk Show) to introduce him onto the stage of The Royal Albert Hall as  “one of the finest singer-songwriters this country has produced”. Whether it’s a village hall or the Albert Hall, Reg brings to the stage a collection of extremely beautiful songs, performed with humour and depth, and sung with the voice of an angel. Reg has that rare gift of being able to touch people, through his songs and performance, on a really human level. His words and music paint pictures that remain with the listener long after the song has been sung.

We welcome back The Shackleton Trio to BFF2026. They are known for their vibrant songwriting, fiery musicianship and close three-part harmonies. Weaving together mandolin, fiddle, guitar and banjo, their distinctive sound tells stories rooted in East Anglia, while reaching far beyond it. The trio brings together Georgia Shackleton (fiddle, vocals), Aaren Bennett (guitar) and Nic Zuppardi (mandolin, banjo). Drawing on British, American and Scandinavian folk traditions, the band balance deep respect for the past with a fresh, contemporary approach.

Described in The Living Tradition as ‘captivating, bold and striking’, Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne is at the forefront of his generation of English folk musicians as both a powerful and commanding singer and a masterful player of the Anglo concertina and melodeon.

Cohen’s music is rooted in the English folk tradition, celebrating the age-old musical heritage of this broad and diverse land.  Traditional ballads, songs and tunes form the basis of Cohen’s material, but with a smattering of early music, ragtime, and music hall thrown in for good measure along with regular forays into the music of the Caribbean.

We are delighted that Sound Tradition have agreed to join us again this year. Sound Tradition is an a cappella folk foursome singing in glorious harmony. Their varied repertoire ranges from lively chorus songs to lilting ballads, and from medieval times to the modern day, but always with an ear for the English folk tradition. Sound Tradition will be hosting the Rosemarie Barnard Chorus Shield and performing in various venues and sessions over the weekend.

Detta Kenzie is an indie-folk singer and songwriter whose music, while often touched by traditional Celtic folk influences, is guided by a thoroughly modern and independent spirit. Her sound blends the richness of folk storytelling with elements of soul, cinematic minimalism and leftfield pop, creating music that is emotionally expansive, intimate and unmistakably her own. Her songs are threaded with themes of transformation, survival and renewal. There’s a quiet spellcasting in her work, pulling listeners into a sonic world shaped by a love of language, a skill honed during her years as a secondary English teacher.

Detta will joined by Chris Cleverley who wowed us in 2025 with his songs and guitar mastery and possibly our patron Sam Kelly.

The John Ward Trio delivers powerful 3-part harmonies, with acoustic guitar, bodhran, harmonica, double bass, mandolin, accordion and recorder to bring a fuller sound to John's excellent songs. The Trio also draws on its wider repertoire of traditional and contemporary folk tunes and songs, many of them suited to communal singing. The Trio’s performances are authentic and heartfelt, engaging audiences with their choice of material. Steve Turner is known as a pioneer of highly sophisticated English concertina song accompaniments, stretching the boundaries of traditional forms, with one of the best voices in the business. He is a multi-instrumentalist, who also plays mandolin and tenor banjo.

Steve began his career on the Manchester, UK folk scene at the end of the ‘60s, with the Geordie band “Canny Fettle”, touring with them for eight years and making two albums with them.
